What an unusual tea! Most Jasmine Green teas keep the jasmine flowers and tea leaves separate. Jasmine flowers hold more moisture than tea leaves, which makes for a bad combination if you want to keep your tea leaves from molding. With Blizzard, the tea master intentionally added jasmine flowers to the mix, but not for the reason you think.
In 1995, the tea master behind Blizzard invented a new process for infusing Jasmine Green teas. Like all Jasmine Green teas, after infusing the tea with jasmine, he removes the jasmine flowers from the tea leaves. But, on the side, he sources a different varietal of jasmine to dry. When dried, this jasmine flower has the same moisture level as dried tea leaves but consequently only contribute to the aesthetics. The extra dried leaves provide no additional flavor.
The end result is remarkable. When brewed, the jasmine flowers flow in a way that makes it appear like a blizzard is going on in your cup of tea!
